Mike Thorpe is an artist, designer and curator based in Macclesfield.
He runs twentysevenb studio, an artists' collective based in an old silk mill.
His practice is a response to the memories and observations of place; real and imagined. He seeks to express something of his own feelings and recollections of his surroundings.
Ordinary subjects are explored through installations, print, collages and paintings.
Light projections of images and words onto surfaces plays a large part: in urban,
rural and the spaces in between.
Mike collaborates in areas of poetry, printmaking, ceramics and sculpture,
to curate group exhibitions, creating intriguing and engaging spaces.
He has been admitted as a member of the Newlyn Society of Artists in Cornwall.
His work has featured at: Barnaby Festival, LITMacc Festival, Royal Academy Summer Show 2020, Royal West Academy Summer Show 2019, Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens Gallery, Penzance and St Ann’s Church Manchester.
